The quantity of nicotine shots required relies on the desired nicotine strength and the shortfill bottle's volume. As a rule of thumb, a standard 50ml shortfill bottle needs one 10ml 18mg nicotine shot to achieve a nicotine strength of 3mg. For a higher nicotine level, additional shots can be included, though this might need a larger shortfill bottle to contain the extra liquid.

Shortfills also create a unique platform for flavour exploration. Given that the base e-liquid is nicotine-free, vapers have the option to introduce different flavoured nicotine shots. This brings a new level of customisation and has given rise to a lively 'DIY' vaping culture, where users experiment with different combinations to create a personalised flavour palette.
